WhatsApp Ordering for a Multi-Outlet Restaurant Chain
A five-outlet restaurant chain replaced phone-in orders and scattered screenshots with a native WhatsApp catalog, cart and Storefront dashboard, cutting order turnaround time by 38% and eliminating manual order entry.

Project Background & Objectives
A five-outlet quick-service restaurant chain was taking the bulk of its delivery and pickup orders over phone calls and WhatsApp messages, with staff manually transcribing each order onto a paper ticket before it reached the kitchen. Order details were frequently mis-heard or mis-typed, and busy dinner-hour call volumes meant customers were sometimes left on hold long enough to order from a competitor instead. Dristi Technologies connected the chain's WhatsApp Business number to WABizSuite's Storefront module, giving customers a browsable product catalog and cart inside WhatsApp itself, with every order landing directly in a dashboard instead of a paper ticket.
The single biggest change wasn't the payment options — it was removing the human transcription step entirely. Once an order arrived as structured data (exact items, quantities and a phone number) rather than a phone call to be typed up, kitchen ticket accuracy and order turnaround improved together, because staff were no longer splitting attention between taking new calls and re-keying old ones.
What Problem Were We Solving?
Phone lines at the two busiest outlets were saturated during the 7–9pm dinner rush, with an estimated 1 in 6 calls going unanswered during peak windows. Manually transcribed orders had a measurable error rate — wrong item, wrong quantity, or a missed spice-level note — that led to remakes and refunds. There was no single view of orders across all five outlets, so head office relied on each outlet manager's end-of-day phone summary to track sales.
How We Delivered Results
We connected each outlet's Meta WhatsApp Business number to a shared product catalog in Meta Commerce Manager, synced through WABizSuite's Catalog settings. Customers browsing the catalog inside WhatsApp add items to a native cart and tap "Send Order" — no call, no app download. Every order lands automatically in the Storefront orders dashboard with full item, quantity and contact details, visible across all five outlets from one screen. For payment, the chain uses free UPI Direct QR codes for walk-in pickup orders and Razorpay Payment Links for delivery orders, both sent as the final step in the same WhatsApp chat.
Digitised the shared menu into Meta's Commerce Manager catalog, organised by outlet-specific availability and pricing, and connected it to each location's WhatsApp Business number.
Enabled native cart ordering through WABizSuite's Storefront module and configured UPI Direct for pickup orders and Razorpay Payment Links for delivery, both tied to the chain's own accounts.
Replaced the paper-ticket relay process with the Storefront orders dashboard, training kitchen and counter staff to confirm and progress orders directly from incoming WhatsApp orders.
Monitored order flow through the first two dinner rushes, adjusted catalog item availability toggles for sold-out items, and rolled the same setup out to the remaining outlets.
Built With Industry-Leading Tools
Every technology was selected for its production readiness, scalability potential, and fit with Multi-Outlet Restaurant Chain's long-term roadmap.
In Their Own Words
“Our dinner rush used to mean someone permanently glued to the phone, mishearing orders over kitchen noise. Now the order just appears on the dashboard, exactly as the customer typed it, and we're already cooking before we'd have finished writing the old paper ticket.”
